How & What to Prepare

Step 1
Setting Up Your Space

Create a peaceful, dedicated space in your home for your practice. This space should be comfortable, quiet, and free from distractions, allowing you to fully immerse in your sessions. Here are a few tips to help you set up your practice area:

  • Choose a Quiet Corner: Find a corner of your home where you won’t be interrupted. This could be in your living room, bedroom, or even a balcony/garden

  • Keep it Simple: All you need is enough space to move freely on your mat, a comfortable place to sit for meditation, room to stretch out and move freely

  • Enhance the Ambiance: Consider adding calming elements like candles, essential oils, or soft lighting to help create a peaceful environment. Bring in items that inspire calm, such as plants, crystals, or meaningful objects.

  • Gather Essential Props: Have a yoga mat, cushions, a blanket, and any props you may need, such as blocks, straps, or bolsters, nearby. Kunal and the mentors will inform you with what you need prior to class in advance.

Step 2
Preparing Your Mindset

Approaching your practice with the right mindset is crucial to fully benefiting from your journey. Take a moment before each session to clear your mind and set an intention for your practice:

  • Set an Intention: Before each class, take a few minutes to reflect on what you want to focus on during the session. This could be a specific aspect of your physical care, physical limit of the day, or simply maintaining presence and awareness.

  • Clear Your Schedule: Treat your class or workshop time as sacred. Ensure you have enough time before and after the session to transition smoothly and avoid rushing.

  • Do not drink or eat 45mins to 1 hour before the class. if you choose to eat 1 hour before insure it is a light meal or snack. After class wait 20mins before you eat.

  • Release Expectations: Each practice is unique, so try to let go of any expectations. Allow the experience to unfold naturally without judgment.

Step 3
Technology Preparation

To make the most of your online sessions, it’s essential to have the right technology setup. Here’s how to prepare:

  • Stable Internet Connection: Ensure you have a strong, stable internet connection to avoid interruptions during your class. Consider using an ethernet cable for a more reliable connection, if possible.

  • Device Setup: Ensure you are registered with zoom and have your name visible, this will permit you in entering the class. Use a laptop, tablet, or desktop with a camera and microphone. The teacher will be the only one who can see you or hear you. Mostly sound is muted. Place your device at a comfortable height where the camera can capture you on your mat, whether you're seated, standing, or lying down. Make sure you can view the screen comfortably.

  • Headphones or Speakers: Depending on your environment, external speakers to better hear the teacher, headphones are not advised unless it is a sitting meditation. No wireless headphones please. Make sure the audio is clear and at a comfortable volume.

  • Check Zoom Links: You will receive Zoom links via WhatsApp group for each class, workshop, and circle. They will be available in the group in advance.

Step 4
What to Wear

Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Your outfit should support both active movements and stillness in meditation. Here are some tips:

  • Yoga, Movement and Active Meditation Classes: Choose clothing that fits comfortably but isn’t too loose. Tracksuit pants, leggings, or comfortable shorts paired with a breathable top are ideal.

  • Passive or deep rest Meditation Sessions: If your class is focused on passive meditation, you may want to wear layers or have a blanket nearby to keep warm while seated or lying down.

  • Be Barefoot: Practicing yoga barefoot helps with stability and grounding. However, if it’s a meditation session, you may prefer cozy socks to stay warm.

Step 5
Hydration and Nourishment

Taking care of your body before and after your sessions is vital to supporting your journey:

  • Hydrate: Drink water before your practice to stay hydrated 45mins before, especially if you’re engaging in physical movement. Have a water bottle nearby to sip on as needed. Please refer to mentors for further guidance

  • Light Meals: If you plan to eat before class, keep it light 45mins to 1hour before. Avoid heavy meals before yoga or meditation, as it may make you feel sluggish or distract you. Food will alter focus but being content is essential. So do logically plan in advance. A light snack like fruit or nuts can help if you need energy.

  • Post-Practice Nourishment: After your session hydrate and nourish your body with a healthy meal or snack to replenish energy and support recovery

Step 7

After each session, take some time to reflect and document your experience in your journal. Journaling will help you track your progress and deepen your understanding of the practice. Here’s how to incorporate journaling into your routine:
